Dr. Phillip Haiman
Dr. Haiman graduated with Honors from Indiana University School of Optometry in 1999. He completed his residency at the Boston Veterans Administration where he gained experience in treating glaucoma, macular degeneration, cataracts and diabetic eye disease. During his residency, he received contact lens fitting awards from Vistakon and the Rigid Gas Lens Institute.
After his residency he accepted a position as Director of Optometry at the New England Eye Center – one of the Country’s top 5 Ophthalmology Centers. This referral site gave him advanced experience in treating glaucoma and cornea diseases associated with keratoconus, dry eyes, blepharitis, corneal transplants, and Lasik procedures.
In 2002, he relocated back to his home state of Florida and started his practice, Sunrise Eye Care – Scleral Lens and Dry Eye Institute. Dr. Haiman proved that you can focus on specialty eye care in a commercial setting. From 2009-2016, Dr. Haiman also accepted a position as hospital-based Optometrist at the West Palm Beach Veterans Hospital where he continued to fit specialty contact lenses on patients with advanced corneal diseases including keratoconus and trauma induced irregularities. He also served as an adjunct faculty member for the Illinois College of Optometry, Nova College of Optometry and New England College of Optometry. Additionally, Dr. Haiman has lectured nationally and has published in industry journals.
Dr. Haiman specializes in dry eyes and hard-to-fit contact lenses including scleral, semi-scleral, Hybrid and RGP lenses and Orthokeratology. He is currently certified to perform BlephEx, an in-office procedure to provide relief of dry eye related symptoms and improve ocular surface health. As Dr. Haiman provides specialty services, he does not sell glasses. All patients referred to him for specialty services are referred back to their primary care eye doctor for continued care.
Dr. Haiman continues to expand his knowledge of dry eyes, scleral and semi-scleral, hybrid contact lenses and Orthokeratology. He continues to stay abreast of the latest lenses designs by attending national meetings and symposiums with the International Contract Lens Congress and the Rigid Gas Lens Institute. Dr. Haiman is a member of the Scleral Lens Education Society and American Academy of Myopia Management.
Dr. Haiman feels privileged to be in a profession that allows him to help others. His passion for the profession is obvious once you meet him. You will find him very empathetic and easy to talk to. He sees every patient as a special individual and tailors his treatment plans to meet his patients’ needs.
Selena has been with the practice since 2008. She graduated from FAU with several honors in 2009 with a major in Biological and Premedical sciences. I was fortunate to have added her to my practice in 2008 as an Optometric Technician. She brings to the practice a sincere desire to help others; she is extremely professional and caring. She’s proficient in all aspects of the practice and knows how to perform and read our advanced technology. Selena will always go out of her way to make any patient feel special and answer all questions and concerns. I am so fortunate to have her in the practice and celebrate her 10th year with us. Anyone who has the pleasure of meeting her will immediately know she is truly one of a kind.
Fabiana is the newest member of our team of Optometric Technicians. Fabiana came very highly recommended by her cousin Sebastian, who was an excellent optometric technician in my practice. She brings an innate genuine kindness and desire to help others. Her desire is to provide the best eye care experience possible while making each patient feel comfortable and confident. Through hard work and training she quickly learned the nuances of our complex practice, which provides full routine and medical healthcare. She smoothly fit into the practice and has been well received by patients and colleagues alike. She is currently studying psychology in addition to her busy work schedule. Her long-term goals are to specialize in Child Psychology and open her own practice. Her positive attitude, professionalism and calm demeanor will make you feel at home. She is bilingual (English/Spanish) which will help our office communicate and better serve our increasing Spanish population. I am lucky to have her in my practice and look forward to watching her grow.
